I know it's been a while since our last post. What can I say...we are really boring people! This last Saturday we went to Wicked. I can't believe how incredible of an experience that was. We went with Troy and Emily and had a blast. We can't wait to see if we will be able to get tickets to Lion King when it comes next year. If you have the opportunity make sure you go and see Wicked. You will definitely not regret it.

Stress Relief

Trent has been studying non-stop for his series 7 test and the stress has been getting to him. He decided to grow a goatee over the Christmas break. Colleagues at work have been trying to convince him to shave it on a daily basis. Trent said if he passed his test he would shave it and if not, he would keep it. However, on our way to church Trent looked in the rear view mirror, and unbenounced to me, he came up with the idea to shave it into a stache. He was ready to turn the car around so he could show up to church in style, but I quickly reminded him we needed to set up for primary. He, being the supportive husband he is, came to help set up and then...well too much stress and no wifey supervision can only end badly. As I looked out the primary door I saw a man, who looked vaguely familiar, but yet...I knew no man in his right mind would come into public with the facial hair he was sporting. I couldn't hold it back, and I began laughing. True to his word, Trent went home and shaved his goatee into 'the stache'. (I am now hoping and praying harder than ever that Trent will pass his test...not only so he will have a job, but for all of us who have to look at this silly thing...and yes, it's real!)

The things we do...for dogs

Our dogs, Bama and Radar, have been slowly taking over our back yard and we had been contemplating the idea of kenel. When I came home from work one day I stopped to look out the window and saw our cute little guys, but something was off. I started to walk away and it hit me...our smaller tree was no longer standing. Radar had found his newest chew toy and we were left with a stub sticking out of the yard. They had already stripped the bark of our healthy growing tree and decided to really get our attention by completely taking one out. I decided we needed to do something to keep our yard from becoming a total disaster.

My brother and his family were moving to Texas and they no longer needed their kennel, so we decided to buy it from them. Great idea...but one serious problem. The kennel consists of 6 15 ft. panels, we only had access to a 6 ft truck bed, and we had to move it 15 miles. Oh ya, the guys are moving it, so that means it has to be moved in one trip. Here was their genius solution.

Gingerbread Houses

For many the building and decorating of gingerbread houses is a fun holiday tradition. For me, it is just that, but a little more complicated. For two years running, I have not created a gingerbread house, but a gingerbread disaster! No matter the approach, it seems to last only a moment before collapsing. This year prior to starting I was given a pep talk by my 6 year old partner and together we were able to create a one of a kind beach house complete with a lounge chair and pool. It was decided that the skills of a kindergartner was all that was needed.

I even dared try again with Trent's family...it too stood. But only for a short while.

How to come up with a name for a Blog

We have been wanting to start our very own Blog that we could share with family and friends. Well it finally happened! During gift exchange our sister in law Danielle told us that when she thought of Lindsey she thought of fruit and when she thought of me she thought of cereal. This is how this Blog was born. Welcome to the Fruit & Cereal blog. Just a small glimpse into our lives. :)
